If you pay attention to basketball, you’ve probably heard how Blake Griffin is leading the Los Angeles Clippers to some well deserved attention in the shadow of the Lakers. The team is still able to completely blow a game and end up losing pretty badly, but they put on one hell of an entertaining show while doing it. Below you’ll find some of the reasons why Blake Griffin is bringing the awesome.
He Proves White Men Can Jump

If you’re a Clippers fan, we feel for you. But there is an occasional moment of brilliance that the OTHER Los Angeles basketball team displays, such as this unbelievable Jordan-esque dunk by Blake Griffin against the Knicks. Even Stoudemire was impressed.
He Can Make Half Court Shots Sitting Down

Blake Griffin is this good, yet the Clippers still suck. Did the Lakers make some kind of deal with the devil to be the dominant Los Angeles team at the expense of the Clippers sucking even with such a great player like Blake Griffin on the team? Maybe he should try this shot in an actual game, and then maybe the Clippers won’t be an embarrassment.
He Brought the Excitement Back to LA Basketball

Sure the Lakers have the better record this year and the Clippers continue to lose, but that’s not stopping the “other” LA basketball team from putting on the best show in town. Thanks in part to Blake Griffin, the LA Clippers have become the most exciting basketball game to see in Los Angeles and with the Lakers around, that’s quite a feat to do. Sure, they still lose, but people are talking about the Clippers as if they aren’t some forgotten team anymore, so much so that they’ve temporarily taken the limelight away from the Lakers.
He Can Channel Jordan

Forget Kobe. Forget LeBron. The most awesome player in the NBA to watch is Blake Griffin of the LA Clippers. He’s single-handedly resurrecting the corpse of the Clippers and making people in Los Angeles see past the purple and gold to realize that there is actually another NBA team playing ball in the Staples Center. Check out this one-handed alley-oop he pulled off in their game against the Suns.
He Spoiled LeBron’s Party

The Miami Heat were on a roll. They were about to make history with a road win streak. That is, until they arrived in LA and faced Blake Griffin and the Clippers. Sure the team can easily screw up and lose it all, but they’re young and playing some impressive basketball in the last month in a half or so. They and the Heat put on what will probably be the most entertaining game in the NBA this week. Both Wade and LeBron had minor injuries, there was nearly a fight, and the Clippers pissed in Miami’s coffee by spoiling their road win streak.
Pick a Fight With Him, Get Dunked in the Face

During that win over Miami, Mario Chalmers tried to get into it with Blake Griffin, but the refs kept them apart and they both got technicals. Not long later, Griffin charged the hoop and dunked right in Chalmers face.
He Won’t Fight the Lakers Thugs

When the Clippers played the Lakers (and went on to beat them) Odom grabbed Griffin by the jersey and tossed him in an effort to start something. Griffin just tossed his arms up and did nothing, but the Lakers were obviously so pissed at losing to the Clippers that Odom wouldn’t let up.
He’s a Ninja

During the Clippers/Pacers game, there was a near accident when Blake Griffin and James Posey tripped over each other while running down the court. Thankfully neither were injured as both displayed ninja-like reflexes to hop right back up on their feet and continue down the court like nothing happened.
47 Points

If Griffin continues on the tear he’s currently on; you’re just going to be hearing more and more about him. In the Clippers game on Monday, Griffin scored a career high of 47 points. Not bad at all. And his performance is seeing results as he’s firing up the Clippers to actually win. They beat the Lakers, and they’re continuing to do very well. Things seem to be turning around for the “other” LA basketball team.
