Detroit may have its octopus tradition, but the Calgary Hitmen have a something different tossed on the ice around Christmas. For the past sixteen years, the Hitmen have held an annual “Teddy Bear Toss” game where fans bring stuffed animals to the game and toss them on the ice after the team scores their first goal. The toys are then gathered up and given to children’s charities.
